Critical Thinking

What kinds of activities would you like to see in the online classes that would better engage the students in critical thinking?

What are your thoughts on adding cooperative learning groups in the online classes?

  1. I think the curriculum does lend itself to critical thinking. Many of the assignments require students to make real world connections, and perform higher order thinking skills. I think the questions that require more than recalling facts elicit the most critical thinking responses. Assignments that require students to formulate an opinion supported by evidence from the text really sharpen analytical skills. Further, I really enjoy when students students make a real world connection in their response because I know the material is relevant their personal lives.

I think cooperative learning is a great idea. The discussion boards are a type of cooperative learning. As long as assignments are tailored to enusre all students participate equally, cooperative learning is a valuable tool.
